My Eco score is low even when I drive gently

The score penalises idle time (long traffic lights). If you drive in city traffic, scores around 70–80 are normal. Harsh accel/brake counts are normalised per 100 km so a long trip doesn't get an automatic discount.

The map stutters during a trip

Check that GPS is on High Accuracy (Settings → Location). At low speed (<5 km/h) the GPS provider stops reporting bearing — it's a physical limit of the sensor, not the app.

How do I change the app language?

Car Control - OBD2 is first of all a digital car logbook. The OBD diagnostics features are optional — even without an adapter you can:

Log refuels with the cheapest pump prices in your country (MIMIT, Roulez-Eco, Geoportal, Lux, UK CMA)
Track maintenance, deadlines (road tax, insurance, inspection), documents, tyre sets
Compute average fuel consumption, cost-per-km, year-end projections
Record GPS trips and export them as PNG share-cards

The OBD adapter adds: check-engine code reading, live sensors (RPM, temperature, etc.), automatic VIN-based vehicle switching. But it's not required.

📱 Add your first vehicle

Always the first step.

Open the app — you land on the Vehicles screen
Tap + Add vehicle (FAB bottom-right)
Enter make, model, fuel type, displacement. Everything else is optional.

Supported brands: nearly 100 with a model catalogue (Alfa Romeo, BMW, Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Volkswagen and more). You can also enter a custom make.

Multi-vehicle: save as many cars as you like. The chip in the top-right of every screen shows the active vehicle — tap it for a quick switcher.

⛽ Log refuels

The most important daily flow. What you need:

Total amount paid
Litres dispensed (or unit price)
Odometer reading

Country tip: in Italy the app recognises the station from your GPS position and pre-fills the average regional price. You see your real saving against the regional benchmark.

First cost-per-km: about 2 weeks after your first refuel the app sends a one-shot notification with your first real cost-per-km figure. From then on, the analytics get accurate.

🔧 Maintenance and deadlines

Maintenance covers service stops, oil changes, brake pads, tyre swaps — anything. Set nextDueKm or nextDueDate and the app alerts you when you approach the threshold.

Deadlines — road tax, insurance, inspection, driving licence, registration. Each one has a cascade reminder: 60 → 30 → 7 → 1 day before, with escalating priority.

Seasonal tyres — on 15 October the app reminds you of the winter-tyre obligation (15 Nov – 15 Apr in Italy). On 1 April it reminds you of the reverse swap. Skipped silently when the mounted set is already seasonally correct.

🚗 Trip logger (GPS)

Works without OBD. Start a trip with a tap, or enable automatic recording in the vehicle settings: the app detects your car's Bluetooth, starts recording when you drive off and stops when you park.

Smooth camera: the navigation map follows the vehicle at 60–120 Hz like a real GPS navigator. The vehicle marker auto-orients toward the direction of travel.

Pairing

Plug the adapter into the OBD-II port (usually below the steering column)
Open the app → vehicle settings → Setup wizard
The app scans nearby Bluetooth devices — pick yours
VIN auto-switch: if you have multiple vehicles and the adapter reports a known VIN, the app switches to the right profile automatically

Manufacturer-specific data (TPMS, door status, etc.) is not exposed by the standard OBD-II protocol.

📊 Analytics and backup

After a few refuels and trips, the Analytics section shows:

Total cost of ownership (TCO) per year
Monthly spend breakdown (fuel / maintenance / deadlines)
Year-end projection
Comparison with your other vehicles (if you own more than one)

Backup: Settings → Auto-backup. Pick a folder (Google Drive, Documents, microSD). The app saves a full ZIP (database + attachments + settings) at your chosen cadence (daily, weekly, monthly).

Restore: Settings → Import backup ZIP. The app restarts after restore to re-align with the new database.
